Baby rabbits are called kits. They start life tiny and helpless, then grow into hoppy little explorers very fast!

Born tiny

Kits are born with no fur, and their eyes and ears are closed. They stay snug in a nest the mum makes from fur and hay.

Eyes open

A kit's eyes open after about 10 days. Soon after, they begin to peek out of the nest.

Quick milk visits

A mother rabbit feeds her kits only once or twice a day, usually at dawn and dusk. That is normal, so don't worry!

Growing up

At around three weeks old, kits start nibbling hay and fresh greens alongside their milk.
