Gerbil pups are born with no fur and their eyes closed. A litter is usually around 4 to 6 pups.

Gerbil dads often help keep the pups warm and tidy. That makes gerbils special among small pets.

Fur grows in over the first couple of weeks. Their eyes open at about 2 to 3 weeks old.

Pups start nibbling seeds at about 3 weeks old, and they are usually weaned at about 4 weeks.
